The Stormlands

Source: A World of Ice and Fire pg. 220

Rainy, mossy, and battered by howling storms, this slice of Westeros is populated by people as wild and violent as its weather.

The major seat in the Stormlands is Storm’s End; a massive drum of a castle surrounded by enormous walls, which had to be rebuilt repeatedly due to being felled by, well, storms.

The region waxed and waned in size over the ages, nibbled away by Dorne and the Riverlands. The Storm Kings who ruled over the lands were the Durandons, beginning its reign during the Age of Heroes. Much like the Gardeners of the Reach, this ancient house met its end during Aegon’s Conquest. Their sigil (and the last surviving Durandon) was appropriated by Aegon’s bestie, Orrys Baratheon, the first Hand of the King.
